Expungement Attorney in Los Angeles
A criminal conviction can cost you jobs, housing, and professional licenses long after you’ve served your sentence. California’s expungement law (PC 1203.4) allows many people to petition the court to dismiss their conviction, clearing it from most background checks.
Rana Parsanj helps clients throughout Los Angeles, Ventura, San Bernardino, and Orange Counties clear their records and move forward.
What Expungement Does
A California expungement under PC 1203.4 results in the court withdrawing your guilty plea and dismissing the case. This allows you to truthfully answer “no” to most questions about convictions on job applications. It does not remove the conviction from your criminal history entirely, but it significantly reduces its impact on your life.
Who Qualifies
You may be eligible if you successfully completed probation (or had probation terminated early), did not serve time in state prison for the conviction, and are not currently charged with or serving a sentence for another offense. Felony convictions that resulted in state prison time may be eligible for reduction to a misdemeanor under PC 17(b) before expungement.
Early Termination of Probation
If you’re currently on probation, Rana can petition for early termination — which then clears the way for expungement. Courts often grant early termination if you’ve complied with all conditions and demonstrated rehabilitation.
